IT Support Engineer 2nd Line required by a leading provider of global IT solutions and managed services based in Slough. Salary negotiable depending on skills and experience.
 
We are now looking to recruit an IT Support Engineer 2nd (line with extensive NetApp) to contribute to the smooth running of our enterprise cloud and internal computing environment ensuring server, storage, network and hypervisor availability is maintained at the highest level. As a senior engineer you will be responsible for supporting the Tier 1 and build teams with complex incidents, problem ownership to resolution and performing changes adhering to ITIL principles at all times.
 
Operational Duties
-Maintain service availability for customers by performing routine maintenance, failover testing, implementing best practices, pro-active monitoring of alerts and status changes etc.
-To fully understand the principals of enterprise computing, storage, networking and security.
-Ensure monthly SLA metrics for all platform services customers are achieved.
-Work as part of the on-call rota and ensure resources are always available 24X7 and respond within SLA time frames to any calls from the Managed Service Centre (MSC) Tier 1 or platform build team out of hours.
-Attend internal and customer meetings and working parties to represent Platform Services where necessary.
-Find technical solutions to problems where necessary and practical, without compromising the commercial viability of current and future platform solutions.
-Ensure all customer documentation is kept up to date.
-Provide effective capacity management for internal and customer facing platform services.
 
Essential Skills:
2 years experience of FlexPod technology stack for configuring, troubleshooting and administering all areas with deep technical expertise in at least one of the following areas: NetApp Storage based around ONTAP; Cisco data centre switches; VMware vSphere 5.x.
 
Desirable Skills:
Cisco ASA Firewalls; CA Management tools (Spectrum, eHealth); SAN Fabric Switch configuration (Zoning/Masking etc); Enterprise tape libraries (IBM preferred); Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE);
Windows Server Operating Systems; Linux Operating Systems; PCI-DSS compliant environments;
 
You will have the ability to work in a very busy and highly pressurised environment and deal with high impact, high profile incidents, problems and changes. The ability to communicate both verbally and electronically in a clear, professional manner is essential.
