Senior Network Engineer required by a leading provider of global IT solutions and managed services based in Slough. Competitive salary offered.
We are now looking to recruit a Senior Network Engineer to ensure the smooth running of our customer’s network environments and that network availability is maintained at the highest level through our Managed Service Centre (MSC). As a Senior Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the 1st Line networking team with complex Incidents. With at last At least six year’s experience in a network environment, you will be recognised as an expert in the field, able to guide & instruct technical staff and demonstrating a structured and methodical approach to complex problem determination and solving
Responsibilities:
-Fully understand the principals of enterprise networking, security and cloud technologies
-Maintain network availability for customers by performing routine maintenance, failover testing, implementing best practices etc
-Ensure monthly SLA metrics for all MSC customers are achieved.
-Work as part of the on-call rota and ensure resources are always available 24X7 and respond within SLA time frames to any calls from the MSC Tier 1 out of hours
-Regularly updating customers on progress of incidents, problems and changes by telephone and email in a professional manner
-Regularly update the ticketing system Service Now with high quality notes detailing progress and actions completed on open incidents, problems and change requests
-Completing customer Change Requests, including impact and risk analysis, implementing out of hours where required
-Find technical solutions to problems where necessary and practical, without compromising the commercial viability of a new product
-Attend customer meetings to provide technical consultancy, usually by VC but occasionally on site
-Undertake technical audits for key customers where issues have been identified and as part of the Service Improvement Process
Essential Skills:
CCNP level with strong routing and switching skills; Cisco wireless products; Cisco Unified Communications products; Security products/appliances e.g. Cisco ASA, Juniper Firewalls; Spectrum and other Cisco management tools e.g. Cisco Works LMS/UOM. Experience with Cisco Nexus Switches would be durable.
