Benefits Assessor required by local District Council based in Chichester. Salary £20,661 to £22,658 per annum depending on skills and experience. This role is offered as a 12-month fixed term Maternity Cover until 31 August 2018.
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and self- motivated Benefit Assessor to join our busy Benefit team. The main duties will be working as part of a team to administer all aspect of housing benefit and council tax reduction, in accordance with current legislation and local schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
-Assess new claims and changes in circumstances for housing benefit and council tax reduction
-Deal with all aspects of Discretionary Housing Payments
-Take the appropriate action with all overpayments
-Answer customer enquires both written and verbal in an effective and professional manner
-Maintain up to date knowledge and awareness of changes to benefits legislation / council tax reduction
You will need to have a sound knowledge of housing benefit and council tax reduction, be customer focused, and have a commitment to service delivery, along with a degree of flexibility. You will need to demonstrate a high regard for performance as well as a high level of accuracy.
