Our client based in Milton Keynes is seeking a Release and Deployment Manager to work as part of a team supporting Public Sector clients in the UK and Europe. The focus of the role is to be responsible for planning and controlling of Releases to test and live environments for multiple applications and services. A key part of the role involves the on-going development and maintenance of the release processes for a product that provides records management and workflow functionality specifically to the Justice, Law Enforcement and Border Security industry segment.

Role and Objectives

• Manage all aspects of the end to end release processes
• Ensures coordination of build and test environments teams and release teams
• Provide guidance to teams on the release processes
• Provides management reports on release progress
• Establish release policies and strategies for the organisation
• Develop and improve release processes, work instructions and release notes
• Ensures teams follow the established policies and procedures
• Coordinate release package design, scripting, build and configuration
• Coordinate release package acceptance including business sign off
• Sign off releases for implementation
• Manage communication, preparation and training for releases
• Produce any required release documentation
• Undertake build, release and deployment activities if release team members are not available

Required Skill-Set

• Familiar with different methods of managing releases
• Familiar with concepts of, and have basic skills in, distributed version control systems, such as Mercurial and Defect Management tools, such as ClearQuest
• Hold the ITIL Foundation certification or be familiar with ITIL concepts
• Preferably hold ITIL Release, Control and Validation qualification
• Able to manage and coordinate the work of remote teams of release builders

Required Experience

Must be able to demonstrate experience leading release activities in multi-site, multi-client development environments
Have experience working in development environments using continuous delivery and continuous integration
Able to manage defect processes and version control activities

Security Requirements
Candidates must be eligible for, and are required to have, SC clearance for this post (already having clearance is advantageous)
